Developed by Mindscape UK's internal development team, Dark Omen is the highly anticipated sequel to Shadow of the Horned Rat. The new ergonomically designed game interface will appeal to both Arcade Gamers as well as to traditional Strategy Players. The player is cast as the glorious Commander of a Mercenary Army facing a sinister plot to overthrow the Empire as hordes of undead soldiers sweep north destroying everything in their path. Unlike other battle games, Dark Omen presents the player with a constantly evolving game and expanding army. Each decision made by the player can have serious consequences on the non linear, dynamic, plot. Success in battle entices powerful allies and their heroic armies to join the player's army allowing him to take control of Archers, Cannon, Cavalry, Infantry and, most devastating of all, Magic.
	In the great forests of the Empire, Morgan Bernhardt leads his mercenary army against the scourge of greenskin raiders. Elsewhere, the mighty Dread King stirs as he gains the power he needs to rise once more. As the dark magic surges across the Warhammer world, the fates of these two warriors come together in an explosion of battles. As Bernhardt, it is up to you to travel the Empire and beyond in search of the terrifying forces the Dread King is summoning. As you uncover the secrets of these enemies you must rush to destroy them before they can join the Dread King. But en route you must also deal with hordes of undead, together with the ever-present greenskins. Ultimately you must face the Dread King himself, together with any of his agents who have so far escaped your grasp... The battles are depicted in a true real-time 3D environment with complete freedom to move, rotate and zoom the viewpoint as desired. You will command regiments of cavalry, infantry and archers as well as wizards, war machines and huge monsters. Sophisticated A.I. takes control of the enemy armies as you pit your wits against them in action packed real-time battles, or you can play against a friend in the 2 player game. The detailed plot offers you choices of when and where to fight, and with who, enabling you to manage the development of your army.
